.basics.
Name:Alice Martin
Age: 19
Social Class:Tradesman
Birthday:June 3
Blood Type:AB
Family:Alice's father, Ansel is a tailor by trade, and enjoys making pretty things for women. He's a slightly lecherous man, but his wife keeps him in line.

Her mother Nina used to be an apprentice in the artists' guild, and fell in love with her father at a festival when they were young. After they were married, Nina continued with her art when she could find a minute. She is also in charge of the embroidery patterns.

Adam, the eldest brother by ten years, is a mage. Alice doesn't currently know where he is, but hopes to meet with him again after graduating from Everthorne.

The second brother, Lewis, also attended Everthorne, but sadly didn't graduate. He came home bitter, and does as little with the family as he can get away with.

The third and last brother, Gabriel, is the closest to Alice. Being a year older than her meant they did almost everything together. He works in the tailor's shop with their father.
Preferred Element:Wind, or water.
.history.

Alice was born as the youngest of four siblings to Ansel and Nina Martin. Their shop wasn't the busiest, but they had a few loyal customers including one of the finer ladies of Reyse.

As the only girl in a house of boys, her father delighted in dressing her up nicely. Many a ribbon and flounce ended up in a mess that way, because Alice just would not stay put! Even as a child, she preferred to be outdoors watching the shape of the clouds, or where the ants would lead her.

It wasn't uncommon for her to disappear for hours on end and reappear just when her mother thought she ought to send one of the older boys after her.

Her father disapproved of this behaviour. He said it wasn't ladylike, and a daughter of his should learn to stay home and put herself to good use. So, Nina started teaching her to draw.

Alice found that she liked this a lot. And she had the talent for it, too. So along with the generic lessons in reading, writing and basic maths that her mother gave, Alice also learned to be an artist.

Of course, it wasn't long before Alice wanted to take her paper out and draw the city and other places. So Gabriel tagged along, for the most part. She would draw, and he would figure out a story to go along with them.

People said that seeing the two of them, they looked like they had been sewn together. A bad pun, but the statement was true. Alice never went anywhere without Gabriel and vice versa.

As they got older, Ansel got a bit worried about their relationship. It wasn't right for a boy and girl of fourteen and thirteen to spend so much time together alone, even if they were brother and sister. ESPECIALLY since they were brother and sister.

So Ansel started Gabriel to learning more about the shop. Since Lewis's Everthorne failure a year back, someone had to learn to take over the shop, and Alice wasn't one to be interested in dressmaking.

All this accomplished was Alice staying in more often. In order to help Gabriel, she would sometimes go out to see what the fashions were and design a few new ones. Most of her designs never caught on, but the pair found it fun to try them out.

Exasperated, Ansel decided arranging a marriage for his now sixteen year old daughter was in order. Neither party cared for the arrangement, and in fact, the person Alice was intended to marry had another he would rather have married.

The marriage was not to be. One morning, they got the news that Alice's fiancee had up and eloped with Nora Sullivan, the butcher's daughter. And only Alice knew that Gabriel had gone out that night. She would have to thank him later.

After that, nobody wanted to come after her, which she liked just fine. A rejection like that meant that people would think there was something wrong with her, and Alice really just wanted to be left alone.

The next three years passed by much in the same way. The Everthorne testers came for Gabriel, but he didn't have an ounce of magic.
However when they came for Alice, she had been accepted?

Not quite understanding what it meant, she agreed to go. Gabriel cheered her on, and even made her a few new gowns in the styles that flattered her best. Alice kept thinking that Gabriel was happier that she was going than she was herself. And that she would do her best for him.

.personality.

Alice is actually very shy around most people. It takes a lot of time for her to warm up to people in person. Over the journals, she may appear very talkative, though.

She has problems keeping her attention focused on things she should be doing. Many a time she has been caught doodling clouds in the book she was supposed to be reading merely because the cloud looked like a bunny. Alice is a dreamer, plain and simple. Spin a story, and she'll believe it because it MIGHT be true, somewhere.

.appearance.

Alice has long, blonde hair, usually tied back in a ribbon. She stands at about medium height. Alice favours plainer dresses, and always wears green. She takes her time wandering from place to place and always looks around her as she goes, because she doesn't want to miss anything.
.miscalleneous.
